Portability Program

WNYHA’s Section 8 Portability Program includes 40 vouchers that are allocated to residents who live out of state, and 100 vouchers that are utilized in other municipalities in Hudson County.

Recipients of these vouchers must remain employed for three years, during which they benefit from a graduated rental increase schedule. At the end of the three-year period, residents are referred to local home ownership programs that provide credit counseling, and down payment and mortgage assistance. Program participants can reside anywhere in Hudson County.
